Catalog Description
Basic concepts related to curriculum. Philosophical, historical, psychological, and social foundations of primary school curricula. Main components (goals, objectives, and learning outcomes, content, teaching- learning process, assessment and evaluation) of primary school curricula.
Course Objectives
This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and understandings to discuss the basic concepts related with curriculum. It also aims to help students evaluate the philosophical, historical, psychological, and social foundations of primary school curricula. The course further aims to foster students’ academic growth in analyzing the main components of primary school curricula in terms of their goals, objectives, and learning outcomes, content, teaching-learning process, assessment and evaluation techniques.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- discuss the basic concepts related with curriculum,
- evaluate the fundamental foundations of primary school curricula,
- analyze the main components of primary school curricula in Turkey and abroad,
- compare curriculum development models and designs,
- develop exemplary curricular activities in primary education,
- discuss curriculum evaluation models,
- analyze the current issues and trends in primary school curriculum.
