Catalog Description
Risk factors and effects, groups of children caused by risk factors; children living and working on the streets, working children connected to sectors, shattered family children, children in need of protection, crime-oriented children, children who neglected and abused, children at developmental risk, children living in unfavorable environmental conditions and their characteristics, critical elements in their education, measures to be taken, projects implemented in Turkey and other countries of the children at risk.
Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to assist pre-service teachers to explore the factors what put children at risk and raise social awareness about motives and precautions against them.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to

  1. recognize the children in the risk group,
  2. explain the reasons for pushing children to risk group based on the results of scientific research,
  3. lists the measures that can be taken for the education of children in the risk group,
  4. explain the support mechanisms in bringing the children in the risk group of society,
  5. produces projects that will contribute to institutions serving children at risk.
