Teaching of the concepts in Geometry and Measurement learning area in Mathematics Curriculum (line, polygon, rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus, trapezoid, circle, triangle, angle, area, volume, geometric transformations, congruence, similarity, right prism, right cylinder, right pyramid, and cone). Organization of the course content using appropriate teaching methods, process skills, instructional materials, assessment and evaluation strategies. Students' knowledge about these issues (students’ learning difficulties and misconceptions related to these concepts).

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. design a lesson plan by taking into consideration of basics of lesson plan development,
  2. relate geometry and measurement content and process skills in middle school mathematics curriculum to instructional practices,
  3. select appropriate instructional materials and strategies for instructional process of middle school number concepts,
  4. choose appropriate assessment and evaluation strategies for instructional process of middle school geometry concepts,
  5. examine learning difficulties, misconceptions, general mistakes that students have related to these geometry concepts,
  6. implement the planned lessons as a microteaching experience,
  7. evaluate the effectiveness of microteaching experience by self and collaborative reflection.
