Catalog Description:

Observation of different classroom practices for mathematics teaching. Familiarity with school culture. Observation of organizational structure of schools. Familiarity with educational environments, children and teachers. Observation, documentation techniques, and tools with their use in practice.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. recognize the organizational structure, culture and functioning of a school, 
2. identify the teacher’s daily practices inside and outside classroom,
3. describe the instructional strategies used with staff to promote student learning outcomes,
4. apply observations of classroom practices by using appropriate tools,
5. identify the individual needs of the middle school students in the learning environment,

6. plan short teaching and learning activities in collaboration with a mentor teacher, 
7. evaluate teaching and learning under the supervision of a mentor teacher.
