"With Tiny Steps to the Presence of Atatürk" Project
The Equal Opportunities for Children Community, which has been operating under the auspices of TED University for three years, carried out its project "With Tiny Steps to the Presence of Atatürk" on October 30, 2022. Within the scope of this social responsibility project, 25 students from Gültepe Primary School in Haymana, Ankara, first visited Anıtkabir and then the museum of Mineral Research and Exploration Institute. The aim of the social responsibility project was to give these two wonderful experiences to children who had never experienced a museum visit and had not seen Anıtkabir before. TED University Equal Opportunity for Children Community volunteers accompanied the children during the Anıtkabir tour and museum visit and provided information.
During the Anıtkabir tour, the children visited the museum with the volunteers and teachers, visited Atatürk's tomb, laid a carnation and photographed Anıtkabir from their own perspectives. TED University Photography Society board members also helped the children take photos. Thanks to this activity, children had the chance to observe Anıtkabir through their own point of view.
The young students also visited the the museum of Mineral Research and Exploration Institute and had the opportunity to see and get to know the museum and the historical fossils in it together with the community volunteers. The trip, which started with the Anıtkabir and ended at the museum, was a pioneer in familiarizing all the children with Anıtkabir and informing them about it. At the end of the project, community president Sıla Marangoz said, "We are proud of the smiles we saw on the children's faces. The love and excitement we saw on the children's faces when we visited Atatürk was priceless."
The Equal Opportunity for Children Community continues to help children who are exposed to inequality of opportunity in education by organizing such social responsibility projects. By bringing together volunteers and children, the organization organizes multiple meaningful projects. The community, which aims to bring positive changes to children's lives, plans to continue its work with new projects to ensure that children are educated and raised with equal opportunities in every field.
