The objective of this course is to introduce students the state-of-the-art procedures for analysis and design of earthquake resistant structures.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Describe seismic hazard and risk concept,
2. Describe elastic and inelastic oscillator response under seismic excitation,
3. Interpret seismic analysis procedures for building systems,
4. Evaluate seismic design provisions,
5. Describe basics of nonlinear static analysis,
6. Design and analyze structural systems under ground motion excitation.
