Catalog Description
The development of children’s literature in the World and Turkey; the importance of acquinting with qualified children’s boks in childhood and the function of children’s literature works in raising sensitive individuals who have acquired a reading culture; illustrating unqualified children’s boks with examples and discussing their negative effects on children’s developmental characteristics; studies to determine the appropriateness of pre-service teachers’ books to children according to their age groups and to which children contribute to their development; identifying the contribution of various literary genres (epic, fairy tale, poem, story, novel etc.) and linguistic tools (census, rhymes, riddles etc.) to children’s development.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. explain the basic concepts, tools, types, structures and theories of children’s literature,
  2. compare children’s literature in different cultures,
  3. use children’s literature to support children’s literacy and language development,
  4. lists the children’s books published in the framework of children’s literature and qualifications required in these books.
