Human Rights Awareness Training by our Faculty
Our faculty members Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akipek Öcal, Prof. Dr. Aylin Özman Erkman, Asst. Prof. Dr. Selin Akyüz and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülşen Seven have launched training programs within the scope of the project titled “Raising Young Human Rights Defenders” supported by the Netherlands Embassy Human Rights Fund. To this end, our faculty members have given a presentation to 9th and 10th grade students at TED Karabük College, the first step of the project.
Aim of the project is to raise the young people between the ages of 14-18 as human rights defenders. To this end, a group of high school students and teachers chosen from 7 TED schools will be educated in terms of the history of selected international conventions, including their legal and political aspects and exclusive contents and they will meet with their national and international counterparts who have pioneered human rights defender role. In addition, it is aimed to reach to a larger number of students to foster human rights awareness by developing mobile games and publishing education material through a special website to be designed within the scope of the project.
