Javad Momeni Kolour
Javad Momeni Kolour holds a PhD in English, with a focus on Literary Theory, from the Department of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He earned both his BA and MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Tehran, Iran. His doctoral thesis develops a method of literary criticism inspired by Alain Badiou’s philosophy, applying it to James Joyce’s Ulysses.
Dr. Momeni Kolour’s current research primarily explores the intersection of psychoanalysis and continental philosophy, aiming to construct a literary philosophy cantered on the issues of literary interpretation and methodology. Drawing on thinkers such as Jacques Lacan, Theodor W. Adorno, Walter Benjamin, and Slavoj Žižek, he examines the potential for radical, leftist politics within literary modernism.
He has published several articles and translations in prominent journals, including Critique, Theology & Sexuality, Culture, Theory and Critique, and others, focusing on philosophy, literary criticism, psychoanalysis, and sociology. His ongoing work continues to investigate or problematize these interdisciplinary relations.
Moreover, Dr. Momeni Kolour has recently expanded his research to include Immigration Studies, particularly examining the status of the human being in the “modern-day camp concentration,” using Giorgio Agamben’s analysis of the political structures of the “state of emergency.”
