This course aims to help teacher trainees teach communicative language skills in an integrated way by helping them improve their knowledge and use of teaching methods and techniques, their competence of integrating language skills such as reading, speaking, listening, and writing in a lesson plan for adolescent and adult learners, and their competence of how to integrate grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation into skill-based lesson plans.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this class students will be able to;

1)  Demonstrate a deep understanding of the teaching of integrated language skills,

2)  Apply knowledge of teaching specific language skills to the teaching of integrated language skills,

3)  Demonstrate knowledge of multi-skill instruction with various instructional materials, activities, and procedures promoting meaningful communication,

4)  Demonstrate knowledge of instructional models appropriate for teaching integrated language skills such as content/theme-based language teaching, task-based language teaching, or project-based language learning, 

5)  Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of both formal and informal assessment techniques,

6)  Recognize the differences between the teaching of separate language skills and the teaching of integrated language skills,

7)  Teach a range of L2 skills simultaneously such as teaching reading with a connection to writing and vocabulary or connecting oral skills with pronunciation or listening
