Kinematics of particles and planar kinematics of rigid bodies: absolute motion, relative motion. Kinetics of particles: equations of motion, work-energy and impulse-momentum. Systems of particles. Planar kinetics of rigid bodies: planar kinetic equations of motion, equations of work- energy. Introduction to the dynamics of vibrating systems.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Examine planar motion of system of particles and rigid bodies by employing kinematic relationships,
  2. Calculate forces resulting from planar motions of system of particles and rigid bodies by applying newton's equations,
  3. Examine planar motion of particles and rigid bodies by using the principles of work-energy,
  4. Examine planar motion of particles and rigid bodies by using the principles of impulse-momentum,
  5. Solve undamped/damped free/forced vibration problems of single degree of freedom systems.
