The Ministry of National Education and TED University developed the internet based “Gifted Children Project” in order to enable the teachers to access rapid, accurate and reliable information on gifted children. The Project has already reached over 20.000 teachers.
The Gifted Children Project has been initiated by the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies, together with the project consultant Assistant Professor Adile Gülşah Saranlı from TED University, Faculty of Education. The objective of the Project is to create awareness about gifted children. The Project was activated at the online social education platform EBA (Education and Information Network) and the first module comprised of 40 videos is successfully completed. The videos which are accessible to all the teachers working under the Ministry of National Education free of charge has already reached over 20.000 teachers around Turkey.
The project consultant Assistant Professor Adile Gülşah Saranlı said, “The gifted children are the most important elements for the development and empowerment of a country. However these children face the risk of wasting their talents because they are not noticed by their teacher and families. Our project aims to create awareness about the subject and enable the teachers to access accurate information.”
Five different faculty members who are highly experienced on the subject both nationally and internationally contribute the project. Gülşah Saranlı stated “The project primarily approached the topics which are demanded the most by the teachers. Following this, we have completed the videos of the first module in line with these topics and loaded these videos to the EBA platform.”
