Aylin Tekiner Tolu
Aylin Tekiner Tolu, Ph.D. received her B.A. degree in Foreign Language Teaching and M.S. degree in Cognitive Science at Middle East Technical University. She holds her Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida. Since 2002, she worked as English language teacher, graduate teaching assistant, assistant professor, program chair, MA program coordinator in various universities. In 2007, when she was in the U.S.A, she started teaching online courses and researched synchronous communication in online teaching within the Community of Inquiry framework. She has taught courses at both graduate and undergraduate level mainly focusing on instructional technology, CALL, ELT methods, materials development and second language acquisition.
Dr. Tolu worked as program chair and MA program coordinator. She gave several teacher trainings in different parts of Turkey, including, İstanbul, İzmir, Adana, Kayseri, and Van. Within the framework of University within School model, she was always in close contact with both public and private K-12 schools, teachers, administrators, and learners. Within the University in School framework, she recently volunteered to teach English at a 6th grade in a public school in İstanbul, Maslak, in 2017 while she was teaching “How to teach English to Young Learners” course at university. She also co-taught in a private elementary school in Ulus, İstanbul in 2018. In addition, she interned pre-service teachers, mentored in-service teachers, advised numerous MA thesis students and took part in thesis commissions.
She conducted research on university and school partnership, program evaluation, and digital story writing with young learners. She presented at various national and international conferences.
