Derya Ağaoğlu
Derya Agaoglu has completed her undergraduate degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance program, concurrently conducting part-time theatre studies with Aclan Büyüktürkoğlu. She obtained her bachelor's degree in 2018 and in the same year, she began her Masters of Science program in Fine Arts Education at Ankara University. Between 2018 and 2020, she worked as a drama teacher and educational program developer at Tatbikat Academy Stage. After her master’s degree, in 2020, she started to University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) program in Theatre for Youth. She graduated from the program in May 2022 and worked at the Lexington Children's Theatre (Kentucky/USA) as a summer teaching artist. During this period, she led workshops in various institutions, including the Aziz Sancar Turkish Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2023, she began working on establishing her own theatre company and directed a theatre for early years performance called 'Cloud Play’. She earned a grant named 'Culture Civic Grassroots Projects', funded by the European Union, to be able to perform this play in socioeconomically disadvantaged schools in Ankara and in the 6th of February 2023 Earthquake Zone. Currently, she is working on her solo narrative performance that she started working in July 2023 in London with Facciocose Theatre. Her areas of work and research are as follows: drama in education, theater in education, youth theatre, storytelling, and performance studies.
